RIDERS AND RIDES
The Stockton Bicycle Club consists of cyclists living in or near Stockton, California. Flat rides start and finish primarily in San Joaquin County, while the hillier or mountain rides usually start and end in the neighboring counties of Amador, Calaveras, Stanislaus, Alameda, and San Mateo where the rides are often more geared for the more fit recreational riders. In the winter, when fog and cold sometimes envelop the mid Valley area, many rides are scheduled in the foothills to seek out and bask in the sunshine. Some of these roads weave though mountain vineyards up to the lower pine forests.
Rides are scheduled Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays throughout the year. From March through October, rides are added on Wednesday. The club promotes activities for road riding (primary focus) and mountain biking, while attempting to schedule rides for all abilities to encourage an active membership. Check our RIDE SCHEDULE and come out and join us.
HOW WE COMMUNICATE
The Club publishes a monthly newsletter, The Ride Zone, and maintains this website. The Club has a group site with email list at Yahoo! Groups. This group email list has become a valuable tool for changing/adding to the ride schedule, participating in online discussions, and for distributing other club news. If you have a question and do not have access to our groups, check Leadership and direct your question to the proper officer. In addition we have added a link to Facebook
ORGANIZED RIDE /
DELTA CENTURY
The Club sponsors an annual fundraiser the Delta Century, held on the first Sunday in May. The Delta Century enjoys a long history as an organized ride with three separate distances to challenge a variety of fitness levels.
CHARITABLE
CONTRIBUTIONS
Proceeds from the
Delta Century helps cover club expenses and has enabled us to support
the cycling community and other local and national charities.
Over the years we have donated to fourteen (14) local
charities/organizations whose efforts benefit those with special needs.
We also support a junior riding club, the Ultra Sport Lodi
Sprocket Rockets. We have
donated to five (5) national charities including St. Jude's Children's'
Hospital and the Salvation Army (Hurricane Katrina fund).
ANNUAL CLUB RIDES
AND FEEDS
VOLUNTEER
APPRECIATION AND BBQ: After
the Delta Century, in May or June, the Club hosts a short ride and then
an afternoon of eating and enjoying the company of fellow members and
volunteers. It is a time to thank
our volunteers and workers who spend five months planning and as much as
12-14 hours on the day of the event to ensure our riders and guests have
an enjoyable experience.
Past BBQs have been held at the secluded grounds of Mokelumne Glen
Winery, near Lodi.
